During this 45-minute webinar, Twan will explore the concept of taking ownership during times of transition, drawing on his experience in special forces to share valuable lessons and insights. He emphasizes that building a competent team takes time and cannot be accomplished at scale. The power of special forces lies in their creativity and innovative solutions, as well as their ability to operate within a larger ecosystem of stakeholders.
Participants will come away with a deeper understanding of the following:
- The importance of self-reliance, self-awareness, and controlled activation
- The value of situational awareness, trainability, and breathing techniques for self-reflection
- The benefits of using humor in challenging situations
- Twan’s personal story of taking ownership and overcoming the opinions of others
The webinar ‘ownership in dynamic transitions’ will also touch on several other critical topics, including communication, the importance of psychological safety in remote work, and the vital role of proactivity and vitality in organizational change. Twan will share insights on the importance of Emotional Intelligence (EI) in both private and business communications and the benefits of developing empathy and accountability.
After the presentation, there will be a Q&A session where attendees can ask questions and share their own experiences.
We encourage you to register on LinkedIn today and join us on January 20th for this valuable, free webinar.
A little about Twan
Twan van Tilburg’s military career began as a conscript with the Corps Commando Troops. As he served as an operator, he climbed the ranks in the defence apparatus and retired as an experienced officer in the Marine Corps. Throughout his career, Twan showcased his ability to lead and coach his teams in any situation, relying on his confidence in himself and others.
As a result of his experience in various operations and deployments, Twan believes that good leadership involves more than just leading oneself. He stresses the importance of training and coaching teammates, sharing enthusiasm, passion and knowledge, and equipping them with the necessary skills. Twan believes a strong team is only as strong as its weakest link, and a good leader must be aware of their vulnerabilities to inspire and guide others.

From the military to coach
Since retiring from the military, Twan has spent over 30 years working in the high-risk sector as a trainer, coach and confidential advisor. He is passionate about focusing on well-being, safety, leadership, communication and personal development, using his expertise in human behavior to create a safe environment for individuals, teams and organisations.
Twan’s core values include freedom, passion, connection, harmony and strength. He strives to be there for others while maintaining emotional balance as a protective measure. Despite the widespread belief that balance, tranquility, peace, love and harmony are always present, Twan understands that this is not the case. He has learned to embrace his own emotions, identity, and vulnerability, empowering him to increasingly be himself. Twan loves sharing his experiences and helping individuals and organisations present themselves from a position of strength.
